Trial of Chairman Mao: Witness Question Sheet

Directions: You as a witness are to write four questions and answers in the perspective of your character using the book as a reference. You should find passages from the novel in support of Chairman Mao OR evidence against him depending the side of the case you are representing. Remember to USE page numbers and POST these questions on your blog. Lawyers, use this document to create cross-examination questions. Two per character should be sufficient.

1. Question: what did you feel when you saw your parents burn your family pictures?
Answer: (pg.124,)I hated it because of chairman mao we had to destory our family's past. I wanted to keep the picture with my dad riding a camel but because of Mao we had to burn it just because it was an four old.

2. Question:why did you cry when your backpack was taken away?
Answer: (146-148) i was mad and very sad i cried too! my friends called me a black whelp! then they threw my bag out the window and after that treatment i did not go and get my bag.
3. Question:what did you feel like when you were told that your mother and grandma was cutting up and making mops and cushion covers out of their ancestor's clothes?

Answer: ( 96,97) i thought it was a terrible idea and suggested that we send it to the theatre but the theatre did not need them and they were also considered four olds so i could not argue any more.

Q5.) What do you think the level of safety is here? What makes you think this?

A5.)If I were to rate the level of safety of the two factories we've visited yesterday from 1-10, 10 being really good I would rate the first one 8 because they had a good level of safety but they wasn’t that safe either. For example I saw that some workers were wearing masks and some weren't so I asked the people over there "Why were the workers wearing masks?" They said "It is for safety." Then I asked "If it is for safety then why only are some of the workers wearing them and not the others?" They answered "They workers that are wearing them work with machines that give out a lot of dust and the workers that are not wearing it work with machines that don't give out as much dust." I think that it is good that some workers are wearing the masks but dust travels around so I think it would have been better if all the workers wear masks. Another thing I thought was really safe is their emergency plan; they have practiced enough to get all the workers out of the factory in very little time. That is why I give them an 8. I would give the other factory a 4 because I didn't see that much safety.  I only observed the resources in the second factory I didn't think there was any safety that’s why I give them a 4.

What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)



I think he is trying to say that bulling happens everyday but none pays attention and so we should try to pay attention to it. He wants us to think about how it feels to be bullied. Wouldn't you want people to pay attention to that or peole to help you or support you?
that's how he is feeling and wanting right now. He wants people to do something about it.

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
Q1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
Q2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)

A1)Russell was so opposed because, on pg 110 he says that Richie helped him when Burke and Blanchette was threatening him. So he thinks that Richie has changed.
A2)Richie and Russell is becoming friends because Riche is being nice to Russell.
